Road to Rolex
The Road to Rolex clinic program is designed for one- or two-day formats and features an instruction manual developed by five-time Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year Betsy Alison (Newport, R.I.). Alison, an internationally recognized sailing educator and coach, has won the biennial Rolex IWKC five times.
Sailors of any ability are encouraged to participate. The Road to Rolex clinics are designed to be adaptable to a group's ability level, knowledge of the equipment and skills requiring attention and grants are available to both national and international hosts. Organizations interested in hosting a Road to Rolex clinic should contact Gayle Finster and submit a Road to Rolex Application.
Grants will vary based on participation. US SAILING pays instructor grants of $500 per day. The number of instructors varies with the clinic size with the ideal ratio of 5 boats per coach. US SAILING will also provide curriculum and materials for each clinic. US SAILING can help clinic chairs find coaches upon request. Venues are free to set a registration fee to cover any additional costs that may incur. Once the clinic is complete, send in the final Clinic Grant Request Form and a list of participants. Then US SAILING will process the grant and send a check. Clinic Application forms must be submitted by 1 October and hosts are notified by early January.
